Marketing and Public Relations Specialist - Central Office (Montgomery)



Promotes the mission and service of the Alabama Technology Network; provides technical and professional support in developing, designing, and producing written and graphic deliverables for recruitment advertising, ATN website, and social medial presences.  Work will involve interaction with clients, host colleges, ATN staff and the public. 


• Bachelor’s degree in marketing or public relations

  • A minimum of three (3) years’ experience in marketing, promotion, and/or public relations;
  • Effective computer, presentation, and marketing skills;
  • Proficient in use of computer graphic design;
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills;
  • Excellent planning and organizational skills.


  • Experience in designing, editing, and illustrating technical and promotional materials and developing publications;
  • Experience with writing press releases and interacting with the media;
  • Experience with web design;
  • Experience with social media presence for business;
  • Experience with Adobe InDesign, Adobe Photoshop, and Adobe Illustrator;
  • Understanding of Economic Development and Workforce Development in the State of Alabama.


  • Plans, organizes, manages, and evaluates marketing and public relations activities for the Alabama Technology Network;
  • Markets technical assistance and training programs for business and industry, particularly manufacturers;
  • Develops and implements an ongoing statewide marketing campaign to increase awareness and generate prospect leads:
    • Design, development and layout of recruitment advertising for ATN. 
    • Coordinates the development and usage of ATN brand standard for business cards, letterhead, and other communication pieces;
    • Develops and maintains communication of social media and direct mail;
    • Develops or coordinates the development of audio-visual presentations;
    • Coordinates all advertising;
    • Procures promotional items for use at trade shows and conferences;
    • Assists in the development and management of website information;
  • Submit new and innovative ideas to keep ATN at the fore-front of workforce development;
  • Communicates and works with civic, professional, technical, and industrial organizations, and other institutions and agencies to promote ATN as needed;
  • Represents ATN and utilizes display booth and ATN materials at trade shows, professional association conferences, career fairs, etc. to promote ATN products and services;
  • Produces or assists in producing ATN Newsletter;
  • Communicates effectively both orally and in writing with civic, professional, technical, and industrial organizations; education institutions, industry partners, and governmental agencies to promote ATN.
  • Operate computers, cameras, scanners, printers, and photo duplication systems;
  • Maintains credentials and participates in relevant professional organizations;
  • Maintain advertising media records, tear sheets, and invoices.

Performs other duties as assigned.


Compensation is in accordance with the Alabama Technology Network’s Salary Schedule T4 ($48,386 - $81,769) and is commensurate with the applicant’s experience and education.
