Course Description

Participants will learn how to read and construct basic circuits using actual components. This course includes hydraulic safety, basic theory, and symbol reading.  In troubleshooting, participants will learn how to correctly identify malfunctioning components in circuits.

Course Objectives

At the end of this course, the participant should be able to:

  1. Interpret hydraulic symbols and hydraulic diagrams
  2. Safely construct basic hydraulic circuits
  3. Properly select the correct hydraulic diagnostic equipment
  4. Choose safe methods to troubleshoot faulty circuits

  3. Basic valves:  Pressure control, check, directional control, flow control
  4. Orbitrol steering valves
  5. Cross-port relief valves (closed loop)
  6. Accumulators (advanced)
  7. Cylinders and motors
  8. Pumps: Fixed displacement, variable displacement, pressure compensated, over-center, load sense
  9. Closed loop Systems (closed loop)
  10. Proportional directional control valves (advanced)
  11. Cartridge/powered logic valves (advanced)
  12. Flow dividers (advanced)
  13. Mobile directional control valves (advanced)
  14. Stacked valves (advanced)
  15. Troubleshooting methods and diagnostic tools
